Jones insists and says that Cormier, not Gustafsson, deserved to be the next challenger

However, UFC champion recognizes that fans' preference for Gustafsson has more weight than his opinion

After of much controversy, the rematch between Jon Jones e Alexander Gustafson is officially scheduled for September 27th this year. However, the UFC champion once again showed dissatisfaction with the choice of his next challenger.

In an interview with the program “America's Pregame”, on the North American channel “FOX Sports”, Jones was asked about who he believed was the fighter who most deserved the chance to fight for the belt. The answer was direct: “I would say that Daniel Cormier He has more achievements and the best record. He is undefeated and has beaten former champions before. He was a Strikeforce champion. So I would say Cormier,” he declared.

However, Jones acknowledged that his opinion does not have much weight in the choice made by the UFC. “I think the fans wanted to see me fight Alexander, so that’s what matters most,” he added.

The fight does not yet have a location to take place. The UFC declared that considers three locations for the dispute, but Jones ruled out taking place in Sweden.
