The rematch between Jon Jones e Alexander Gustafson, which will hold the UFC light heavyweight belt, has already been announced for September 27th. However, the organization's president, Dana White, stated that the location for the fight has not yet been chosen, contrary to what was previously announced.
White revealed that the UFC is considering three locations, in three different countries, to host the fight. “If you look at a fight like this, it’s something big, really big. This is not just a big fight for the United States and Canada, but for the entire world. Therefore, we are keeping an eye on Las Vegas, Sweden and Toronto”, commented the director, in a press conference published by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.
The president continued: “I still don’t know. We never announced the location when we announced the fight. So we're still working on that. I know that normally we set our schedule for the entire year, but in this fight we still don't know. This has happened before,” he recalled.
The first fight between Jones and Gustafsson, in September 2013, took place in Toronto, Canada. One of the other options, Las Vegas, is a more traditional city when it comes to UFC fights, and is also the location of the organization's headquarters. Sweden presents itself as a bold alternative, as the UFC already stated that he intended to carry out the fight at an event in the early hours of the morning.
