UFC President Dana White doesn't believe Wanderlei Silva will escape the recent controversies in which he was involved regarding an anti-doping test

At the end of May, the Brazilian fighter refused to take a surprise test for which he had been called up. This caused Wanderlei to be removed from the UFC 175 card, as, to date, he has not received a license to fight. The Brazilian explained himself shortly afterwards, claiming that he didn't understand what was happening because he didn't speak English very fluently. He was summoned to appear next week at a Nevada Athletic Commission (NSAC) hearing to provide clarifications regarding the episode.

In a press conference given during the preparations for UFC 174, White gave his opinion on the matter. “There is no way the NSAC will let him get away. No way. They will bury Wanderlei Silva. In my humble opinion, this is what will happen”, predicted the director, in an excerpt reproduced by the North American website MMA Fighting.

“I don’t think Wanderlei’s story will end well. You know what these commissions are like nowadays. When you're caught taking performance-enhancing substances, you're out for a year. It's never a good thing. I don’t know what will happen, but I would say they will try to make an example of Wanderlei”, continued the UFC boss.

The UFC president said that Wanderlei could have taken smarter steps. “'Wait, let me talk to my lawyer. Let me type something in the translator online to see what happens'. I love Wanderlei, he was always a great guy, but you shouldn't run away from a drug test, especially in Nevada.”

For White, failure to perform the test represents an infraction as serious as a positive test. “When the commissions show up to carry out a test, that’s what should happen. If you are doing something wrong, you will be caught. Avoiding the test only makes you look guilty”, he commented.
