July 5, 2014 is not a lucky date for MMA events. After the series of events involving UFC 175, with the controversies of Wanderlei Silva, Chael Sonnen e Vitor belfort, another attraction scheduled for the same day, WSOF 11, suffered a new setback.

Josh Burkman, who would do the trilogy against Jon Fitch, will not be able to participate in the event due to an elbow injury. The fighter is expected to be out of action for four to six weeks due to damaged ligaments and bones after hyperextension during training. The organization is looking for a replacement for Burkman.

This was not WSOF's original option for the July event. Initially, Rousimar Toquinho would defend the welterweight belt against Fitch, but had to leave the event due to his mother's illness [see more details in the video below]. His replacement was another former UFC fighter, Jake Shields, but the American was injured during training – Burkman then took his place.

WSOF 11 will be held in the city of Daytona, Florida (USA). In the main fight, Justin gaethje defends the lightweight belt against Nick Newell.
