A moment that will mark history in the UFC will feature the participation of a Brazilian athlete. Claudia Gadelha On July 16th, she will have her first fight in the women's strawweight division in Ultimate, facing Tina Lahdemaki at UFC Fight Night 45, in the city of Atlantic City (USA).
The division, which will feature fighters weighing up to 52 kg, will become part of the UFC from this year onwards. The inaugural champion of the category will be announced on TUF 20, which will be broadcast from September with the coaches Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez.
Gadelha, 25 years old, doesn't know what it's like to lose in MMA, with 11 wins in 11 fights. The last one was in July 2013, at the Invicta FC women's event. In December, she was supposed to compete for the organization's strawweight belt, but she became ill and didn't fight. The Brazilian, Nova União athlete, chose not to participate in the TUF season, having already signed directly with the UFC.
Finnish Lahdemaki is the same age, although she has a more discreet MMA record. She has already had five fights, winning five victories – one by technical knockout, two by submission and two by judges' decision.
