The UFC lightweight division got hot again after the victory of Ben henderson over Rustam Khabilov, last Saturday (07), in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 42. Still in the Octagon, Bendo questioned the long absence of champion Anth0ny Pettis from the Octagon – he will not fight this August 2013 – “The belt is not being defended. Anyone who wants to fight for the belt, come and see me,” he said.
Shortly after the provocation, Pettis responded to his rival through his Twitter account. 'three-time championship???', wrote the champion, referring to the two victories he has over Ben henderson.
The answer this time, however, did not come from Bendo, but from the Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is already applying as a contender for the belt. “I don't touch people with disabilities. Fight once a year at least if you are the champion. How much do you earn as a disabled person? See you soon, just don’t lose your belt”, said the Russian
“Who did you beat again? Everyone has something to say when I'm injured”, replied Pettis once again, who is recovering from injury.
Next belt defense
Despite the rivalry involving Anthony Pettis, Ben henderson e Khabib Nurmagomedov, the champion's next belt defense must be with another fighter. Pettis is scheduled to coach TUF 20 against Gilbert Melendez. At the end of the edition, the two should face each other at the UFC's end-of-year event, on December 27th.
