Benson Henderson has used the ground game on many occasions to win victories in his career. The same can be said of Rustam Khabilov, who became famous with his plastic takedowns and bench presses applied in his fights. However, due to these characteristics, Henderson stated that he hopes that the fight between them, on June 7th, will be defined by striking.

In an interview with North American broadcaster FOX Sports, the former lightweight champion praised Khabilov's game. “He is a great sambo fighter, a world-class wrestler. Every time we have two great grapplers, the fight could end in a striking war. We’re ready for anything – a lot of ground fighting or a stand-up war, just dropping a bunch of bombs”, said the North American.

Henderson admitted that when he agreed to face Khabilov, he thought he was another Russian lightweight, Khabib Nurmagomedov. "Unfortunately it's true. Saw one tweet and I saw a Russian name. I thought it was Khabib Nurmagomedov because he was having trouble finding an opponent,” Henderson said.

The fight between Henderson and Khabilov will be the main fight of UFC Fight Night 42, which will be held in the city of Albuquerque, in the state of New Mexico (United States)
