'Dana White's soldier', Sonnen rejects successor post: 'If I leave, I'll leave too'

Fighter thanked the leader for the reminder, but said he would follow him in any activity

Recognized as one of the fighters with the greatest communication skills, Chael Sonnen He has already made a name for himself in the UFC outside of the octagons. A guaranteed presence on the organization's TV programs, the American was nominated by president Dana White as his possible successor in the future. Despite being grateful for the memory, Sonnen preferred to reject the post and declare himself a fervent supporter of White.

“I'm a 'Dana White Soldier.' If he ever leaves the UFC, I'll leave with him. If one day he decides to go work in the music business, I'll go too. I am grateful that he remembered me, but there is no possibility of me replacing him one day”, said Chael, in an interview with the “FOX Sports Live” program, on North American TV.

At 37, Chael Sonnen He has a record of 28 wins, 14 losses and one fight without result. In recent months, Chael has been involved with the The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3, in which he was coach alongside his rival Wanderlei Silva. The American would face the Mad Dog at UFC 175, but the Brazilian ended up being removed from the card after refusing to undergo an anti-doping test by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Now, Sonnen faces the “Phenomenon” Vitor belfort on the card on July 5th, in Las Vegas (USA).
