Training partner Wanderlei Silva, and member of the “Crazy Dog” team on TUF Brasil 3, Ricardo Demente had his first chance in the octagon last Saturday (31) in São Paulo (SP). The paulista won Wagnão Gomes on the preliminary card of TUF Brasil 3 Final and took an important step towards establishing himself in the main MMA organization on the planet. After the fight, Demente celebrated the triumph and took the opportunity to reveal himself to be oblivious to all the recent controversies involving Wanderlei's name.
“I'm quite happy. I was anxious before the fight, because the responsibility of fighting in a UFC event is different. I wanted to do a good job, I trained a lot and went through a lot of difficulties to be here. My camp It was very tough, I suffered a lot, but I think it was worth it and all that sacrifice ended up paying off”, said Ricardo Abreu, who also revealed that he will continue as a middleweight – unlike most of his TUF castmates, who must change category.
According to Demente, not being linked to any type of controversy involving Wanderlei Silva in the days leading up to the fight it was an initiative of “Crazy Dog” himself. “Wanderlei tried not to give me too much information about what happened so as not to disturb my concentration,” said the TUF participant. “Everything that happened was a huge surprise. He was very focused. We went to California together, to train wrestling at Jacob's (Harman) gym, at Churchboyz. And he was very excited for the fight, the wrestling His was improving a lot. And I was really surprised, a journalist even asked me: 'Did you know what happened to Wanderlei?'. And it was very fast, everything happened very quickly, and I don't know what happened. I will inform myself now”, he commented.
