The surprising victory of TJ Dillashaw about Renan Barao at UFC 173 is still giving people something to talk about. After the UFC bantamweight belt changed hands, Urijah faber, the new champion's teammate on Team Alpha Male, posted a photo in which he makes fun of the Brazilian fighter.
In your account at Instagram, Faber published a photo showing the list of registrants for a muay thai seminar that will be given by Duane Ludwig, Alpha Male's trainer, on May 31st. The last name that appears is Baron, and Faber used the caption “newest enrollee for Ludwig's seminar”.
However, the joke didn't go down very well with Faber's followers. “It's only fair, since Urijah went to Baron's seminary twice. Oh, and [José] Aldo's once!”, wrote one of them, in reference to Faber's defeats by Brazilian fighters. Another follower went further: “Now that you are 1-17 in title fights, is this how you are going to behave? I already didn't like Alpha Male, but now I hate them”, he criticized.
“This will be the only time that Faber will touch gold”, poked another follower, referring to the “California Kid’s” three defeats in UFC belt fights (one to Dominick Cruz and two for Barão). “I'm a Team Alpha Male fan, but this photo shows a lack of class. If you want to make jokes inside the gym, that's fine, but publicly kicking someone who is on the ground is sad and shows the character of the gym. I'm really disappointed in you guys,” said one user.
