The Brazilian Championship of the Brazilian Confederation of Sports Jiu-Jitsu (CBJJE) began this Friday (May 22), in São Paulo. On the first day of the event, the eight fighting areas set up in the Mauro Pinheiro gym, in the Ibirapuera complex, hosted disputes between white belts. This Saturday the competition begins for blue belt athletes, in addition to the blue to brown absolutes. The black belts, the main attraction, will take action on Sunday.
President of the CBJJE, Moisés Muradi is satisfied with the third edition of the event, which features representatives from four corners of the country. “In this edition we have a total of 1530 athletes and we practically have representatives from every state in the country. We were missing Acre, but, to our surprise, the main academy there is registered and we will now get together to found the Acre Federation,” he said.
The president is also happy with the evolution of the championship with each edition: “The other two Brazilian Championships we held were at Baby Barioni, which is a smaller gym, and this time we are doing it in the same gym as the World Cup, with more fighting areas and greater number of referees. Here is a place that also brings more comfort to the public and the tendency is for us to improve more and more”, he concluded.
