Recently hired by the UFC, Gilbert Durinho saw the opportunity as the crowning achievement of his work done in MMA in recent years. At 27 years old, the Brazilian arrives at the biggest organization on the planet with an undefeated record, with seven victories in his seven fights as a professional.
However, Durinho recognizes that the difficulties will be greater within the UFC. “I'm very happy, it's confirmation that I'm doing the right things. Despite this, I am aware that the bigger the step taken, the bigger the demand. This was a goal that was worked hard on and achieved. I need to keep up the work I’m doing and focus on the next objective, which is the UFC belt,” he commented.
The fighter revealed that he will make his UFC debut in the welterweight category (up to 77 kg), although he aims to drop in weight and fight at lightweight (up to 70 kg). “My first fight will be at welterweight. I have a lot of difficulty breaking 70 kg, but it's the category I want to perform within the organization. Firstly, I will test myself at welterweight, but the main objective is to win the lightweight belt,” he explained.
