The UFC on FOX 12 card, which will take place on July 26th, is slowly taking shape. This Friday (9), another fight was announced for the event, between the lightweights Josh thomson e Michael Johnson.
Thomson, a former Strikeforce champion, is currently third in the UFC lightweight rankings. At 35 years old, “The Punk”, as he is known, was announced as a challenger for the category belt, but the fight ended up being canceled after the champion's injury, Anthony Pettis. He has already had two fights in the UFC: he beat Nate diaz by technical knockout in April 2013, and lost to Benson Henderson in a controversial decision in January of this year.
Johnson is more experienced within the UFC. He was a finalist on the 12th season of reality show The Ultimate Fighter, being defeated by Jonathan Brookins. Johnson has alternated some victories and defeats, but is on a good streak by defeating, consecutively, Joe lauzon, Gleison Tibau and Melvin Guillard. The recent results placed him in tenth place in the lightweight rankings.
This is the second fight announced for the event, which will be in the city of San Jose, California, in the United States, as the fight between Rogério Minotouro e Anthony Johnson has also been made official.
