after winning Gian Villante at UFC Natal, last March, light heavyweight Fábio Maldonado showed interest in fighting the veteran Dan Henderson – that he had overcome Mauritius Shogun on the same night. However, the Brazilian's hopes were dashed by the announcement of the fight between Hendo and Daniel Cormier for UFC 173. Despite this, Maldonado continues to look for an opponent and has already chosen his next target: Anthony Johnson, who made his debut in Ultimate with a victory over Phil Davis.

“I want to fight Anthony Johnson. He would be a good fight for me. I would fight anyone, but I prefer a fight against Anthony Johnson. He has a great standup and takedown game, but I don't think he could take me down. I want to fight against a well-ranked fighter, so if I beat him I can get a place in the (light heavyweight) ranking”, said “Caipira de Aço” to the “MMA Fighting” website.
