The UFC's top stars perform in the main fights of the organization's events and that's why they receive the biggest checks, right? At least at UFC 172, the answer is no. Without the release of official payment data by the Maryland Athletic Commission, which regulated the fight night, the “MMA Manifesto” website published a list of estimated salaries and the Brazilian Glover Teixeira, who was defeated by the champion Jon Jones in the light heavyweight title fight, he may have received around 17 times less than his rival, who was the highest paid of the night.

While Jones took home US$400 (approximately R$900), Glover reportedly earned US$24 (approximately R$54). To give you an idea, the amount paid to the Brazilian is lower than that allocated to Danny Castillo, Joseph Benavidez, Chris Beal, Takanori Gomi and Isaac Vallie-Flagg, who performed on the preliminary card – although the last four received the night's bonuses, and increased their earnings by US$50 (around R$112) each.
