The time is coming for the Brazilian team to defend their homeland for the second time in the M-1 Challenge, and their opponents have already landed in São Paulo. The next edition of the event, which takes place next Saturday (9) in Terra da Garoa, will put the Brazilian team, led by Carlão Barreto, face to face with the Russian team Red Devils, led by the heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko.
It is not yet known whether or not Fedor will come to Brazil, but his team of fighters, accompanied by his manager and wrestling coach, have already arrived in the country. “They arrived in Brazil yesterday and are already working on losing weight”, says Fernando Navarro, from fightwear Naja, co-producer of the event. And according to the businessman, Russian athletes will have to sweat before fights, especially the lighter ones. “Some athletes, like the 70kg and 77kg athletes, need to lose more than 10kg”, he says, revealing that Mikhail Malyutin and Erik Oganov, opponents of Hacran Dias and Eduardo Pamplona, respectively, will have work until Saturday.
Later today, teams from Bulgaria, Germany and Russia (Russian Legion) are expected to arrive in Brazil.
