Even though he was defeated in the decision by Jon Jones at UFC 165, in September last year, Alexander Gustafson It gave the light heavyweight champion the toughest fight of his career and captivated a large part of the audience due to the way he presented himself. In Jones' opinion, however, the Swede's ego has inflated exaggeratedly since then and, as a result, the American claimed to have completely lost the respect he had for his rival.

“I respected him a lot more before we fought. I'll tell you, he's way too arrogant for a guy who didn't win. He has to close his mouth and go back to the drawing board, to humbly return for a second chance”, said the champion, in an interview with the North American channel “FOX Sports”. “What I find funny is that Gustafsson lost the fight fair and square. I admit he won rounds one and three, but that's it. I won the fight. I've never heard of anyone chirping so much after losing. I could accept it if I had poked him in the eye or caught him with a big punch while he was winning, and it had been a lucky break or something. But it was nothing like that”, he added.

PUBLICITY:

Even paying attention to the statements of Alexander Gustafson, Jon Jones he has another big challenge ahead of him in the Octagon. On April 26th, in Baltimore (USA), the number one in the weight-for-pound rankings of Ultimate will put his belt on the line against the Brazilian Glover Teixeira, in the main fight of UFC 172. However, Jones' concern for Gustafsson is justifiable. This is because the Swede guaranteed the right to be the next title challenger, and to have his rematch against “Bones” if he remains champion, after knocking out Jimi Manuwa at UFC Fight Night London, in March.
