“First of all, I want to thank everyone for all their support and concerns. I was doing my pre-fight warm-up and I had a seizure. I immediately received medical attention. My hydration, electrolytes, etc. were all more than adequate. This has nothing to do with cutting weight. It was one of the easiest cuts of my career. I will undergo more tests in the coming weeks to determine the cause. I would appreciate the privacy. I apologize to my opponent and fans. Thank you to the UFC medical team for their help and support,” wrote Perez.

Former flyweight title challenger, Perez fought for the vacant title against the then champion Deiveson Figueiredo, in November 2020. The Mexican was easy prey for the Brazilian fighter and was submitted calmly in the first round. Alex has an MMA record of 24 triumphs and seven setbacks as a professional in the sport.
