In addition to the UFC event held last Saturday (25), the city of San Antonio, Texas, was the stage, last Friday (24), for the 76th edition of Fury FC, an event whose negative highlight was a disastrous performance of a referee that led to a serious injury to an athlete.
In the fourth round of the night's main fight, Edgar Chairez he climbed guard and placed a triangle on Gianni Vasquez, quickly putting his opponent to “sleep”. Despite Vasquez's clear loss of consciousness, insistently pointed out by the broadcast team and by people sitting near the cage, referee Frank Collazo, who was watching the movement closely, allowed the action to continue. Chairez then transitioned from the triangle to an armbar, causing Vasquez to regain consciousness and tap him three times, giving up the fight.

According to information from journalist Alex Behunin, from the North American website 'MMA Mania', Gianni Vasquez was rushed to the hospital after the fight, where he was found to have a serious shoulder injury.
Through a statement released on social media, Fury FC commented on the incident.
“It is the referee's duty to protect the fighter when the fighter cannot protect himself. In last night's main event, the referee failed to do this. While the job of a referee is one of the most difficult in this sport, the need for continuous and proper training would help alleviate things like this incident. We do not hire, train or select referees for our events, but we would be more than willing to lead an overhaul and review of the refereeing and judging selection and training process,” the statement said.
