Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is one of the most controversial topics in the recent history of MMA. Many have already taken a stand against the practice, which has even been banned by some of the most important athletic commissions in the United States. However, there are those who defend the use of the treatment and are dissatisfied with its ban.

This is the case of Forrest griffin, former UFC light heavyweight champion and who used the treatment while working professionally. Retired from MMA since last year, Griffin believes that TRT should be seen as any other medical treatment.

“That’s something I don’t understand. What's wrong with wanting to be better at your job? You only live once. And that. I don't want to have a bad body, or bad genetics. I want the best”, he argued, in an interview with the YouTube channel “WHOATV”.

“People think TRT is for lazy people. No, it's for those who want to improve. No drug in the world will turn a chihuahua into a pitbull. I could use all the TRT in the world and Jon Jones I would beat myself up all day, every day, but I would be the best I could be,” he continued.

For Griffin, it would be consistent for people who condemn TRT to also be against other types of treatment. “I don’t think people understand, so screw it. They take drugs just to be happy. Drugs like antibiotics. You, therefore, cannot take drugs to improve. Do your children take Ritalin [a medicine used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder]? No! They are doing this to cheat at school,” she said.
