MMA veteran José “Pelé” Landy will have an opportunity to win the belt at an international event. Between May and June, he will face Matt Riddle for the vacant Titan FC welterweight title. The exact date of the event and location will be announced soon.
At 40 years old, Pelé has played in some of the most important MMA events in history, such as PRIDE, IVC and Cage Rage. In the Japanese organization, the fighter made two appearances, losing to Daijiro Matsui and Carlos Newton. However, he has victories over names like Matt hugs, Pat Miletich, Jorge Patino Macaco (twice) and Alexander Shlemenko (twice). Pelé has also faced other prominent athletes, such as Chuck Liddell, Renato Babalu, Thales leites e Jake ellenberger.
Twelve years younger than his next rival, Riddle had an eventful time in the UFC. The American had seven wins and three losses in the organization, in addition to two no-contests due to being caught in an anti-doping test. For this reason, he ended up being released from Ultimate, having had his first fight at Titan FC against Michael Kuiper, winning by submission.
