Considered by many to be one of the best events of 2014 so far on the Ultimate calendar, UFC Natal, held last Sunday (23) in Natal (RN), pleased the North American public. According to the “MMA Fighting” website, the event had an average of 936 thousand spectators, becoming the third most watched card of the Fight Night series – resumed in August last year – in the country.

During the main fight of the night, the long-awaited rematch between Mauritius Shogun e Dan Henderson, the peak audience reached 1,25 million viewers. The numbers are even more impressive if one takes into account the competition at the show's time with the final stage of college basketball in the United States, traditionally one of the most watched sporting events in the country, at that time.

The last event held in Brazil and shown by FOX Sports 1, Ultimate's partner channel in the United States, was UFC Fight Night 36, in Jaraguá do Sul (SC). Fight night also had a great result, largely because it followed the broadcast of one of the NASCAR (North American Stock Car) season races, which earned the channel the largest audience in its recent history. To date, the best audience for Fight Night events on FS1 continues with the first edition of the new series: UFC Fight Night 26, which featured the fight between Shogun and Chael Sonnen as the main combat.
