Once again, the UFC's plans for the middleweight title fight have changed. Chris Weidman, who would make his second title defense against Lyoto Machida on May 24, at UFC 173, he was injured and will need to undergo minor knee surgery.

As a result, the fight against Machida was rescheduled for UFC 175, on July 5th. The location of the fight will not change in relation to the original plans, taking place in the city of Las Vegas, in the United States. The organization stated that it will still announce the new fight that will be the main attraction of the event on May 24th.

Initially, Weidman would defend his belt against Vitor belfort, but the Brazilian was removed from the fight due to the ban on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Machida was then chosen as his replacement.

UFC 175 will take place practically a year after Weidman won the title, as he knocked out Anderson Silva on July 6, 2013. His first defense took place on December 28, beating the former champion by technical knockout after an injury to the Brazilian.
