TUF Brasil 3: Coaches choose teams and Wanderlei opens 1-0 over Sonnen

The TUF Brasil 3 teams are defined! After two episodes with tryouts and controversies among coaches Wanderlei Silva e Chael Sonnen, in the third program of the series the commanders selected their teams. The first fight took place in the edition and Wagnão Gomes, from Wand's team, hit Joilton Pelegrino, from Sonnen's team, in a split decision from the judges and secured himself in the middleweight semi-final.

At the beginning of the program, the editor recalled the first problem between Wanderlei Silva e Chael Sonnen In the last episode. Wanderlei demanded that the North American apologize for his jokes about Brazil, but the North American did not accept it. Silva threatened to leave the program, but he backed down and agreed to continue recording. “It’s not our show, it’s the fighters’ show. We are just here to guide them, to train them,” he said.

In the coin toss, Wand prevailed and preferred to have the right to choose the first fight, leaving Sonnen the opportunity to select the first athlete. The North American started at middleweight and picked up Marcio Lyoto. In its turn, Ricardo Demente was Silva's first selection.

Wanderlei pushes Sonnen

After choosing the teams, Wanderlei Silva addressed the fighters to wish them good luck in TUF. Chael Sonnen He didn't miss the opportunity and provoked his rival. “Don’t call it TUF, call it the Wanderlei Show. Call it what you want, you idiot”, he shot.

At this moment Wanderlei approached Sonnen and pushed him. The North American, however, did not uncross his arms and seemed not to care about the Brazilian's irritation.

The fight

With the right to choose the first fight of the program, Wanderlei Silva preferred to start with the middleweight division. He selected Wagnão Gomes to represent your team and Joilton Pelegrino by Chael's team.

The fight between Wagnão and Pelegrino was disputed from beginning to end. The athlete from Wand's team closed the distance and attempted a takedown. On top, he used his punches well. But Pelegrino managed to reverse the position and score points on the ground.

In the second round, Wagnão was the best. On the ground, he didn't give his rival any space and after working on top he tried to finish with a choke, but to no avail.

With the duel tied, the decision went to the third round. The fighters, already quite tired, were careful and preferred not to expose themselves.

Wagnão landed a good cross in the stand-up fight and took down his rival, where he was on top for a good part of the partial. Peregrino got up with a minute and a half remaining and tried to get back at him, but without much effect.

In the end, victory Wagnão Gomes in the judges' split decision.

At the end of the episode, the edition showed what is to come on the program. Fights, injuries, parties and the dismissal of the fighter who attacked Chael Sonnen at home. But in the fourth episode of TUF Brasil 3 it will be the heavyweights' turn to take action.
