The Brazilian Patricky Pitbull is in the semifinals of the Bellator lightweight GP. In action in the 113th edition of the event, held on Friday night (21), the athlete from Rio Grande do Norte defeated David Rickels by knockout in the second round. The fight was the second most important of the show, which featured the light heavyweight title fight between Emanuel Newton and Atilla Vegh as its main attraction, where Newton won a split decision from the judges.
Pitbull advances
After a balanced first round, the Brazilian didn't talk and started the second round ready to end the fight. Landing a sequence of uppers, crosses and straights, Patricky still managed to land two knockdowns before the “grand finale”, a punch when the opponent was already on the ground without the referee having yet ended the fight, just 54 seconds into the second half. .
“I like it, what motivates me most are the fans shouting at me”, said the Brazilian after the triumph.
More Brazil
In addition to Pitbull, Brazil had another representative at the show, but he was not as lucky. Rodrigo Cavalheiro faced the Polish Marcin Held and ended up submitting with a tight footlock at 1m56s of the first round.
