Last Saturday (15), John hendricks became the youngest UFC welterweight champion by defeating Robbie Lawler in the judges' decision. However, he almost had to be removed from the fight, as he suffered an elbow injury just a few days before UFC 171.
This is what the fighter himself revealed this Monday, during the podcast “The MMA Hour”, on the North American website “MMA Fighting”. Hendricks stated that he even considered giving up the fight, but that the importance of the occasion spoke louder. “We thought about it, but fighting for the world title means so much more,” said Hendricks.
According to “Bigg Rigg”, the injury appeared at two different times. “It happened a week and a half before the fight and it also happened in the first round. I gave a hook. I don't know what happened, but I felt a pop in my arm. Every time I tried to take Lawler down, I couldn’t,” he reported.
