John hendricks he will have to lose 700 g if he wants to challenge for the vacant UFC welterweight belt. This is because the number one in the category ranking was one and a half pounds above the category limit up to 77,1 kg at the official weigh-in for UFC 171, held this Friday (14). Hendricks still has two hours to finalize his weight cut and be confirmed in the fight against Robbie Lawler, which passed through the scale without any problems. If Johny does not reach the division's weight limit, the fight will not count for the title.
Weight losses were the main focus of the UFC 171 weigh-in. In total, three athletes did not reach the weight limit on their first attempt: the TUF 17 champion Kelvin Gastelum, the brazilian Reneé Forte and Hendricks. Visibly nervous about the delay in announcing his official weight, Johny even trembled on the scale and appeared visibly uncomfortable with the situation after the confrontation. “Well, I thought I made weight. Let’s see what will happen in an hour”, said “Bigg Rigg”, in an interview with the official Ultimate commentator Joe Rogan.
As expected, things turned hot when Myles Jury and Diego Sanchez stepped onto the stage for the weigh-in. The two had already been publicly exchanging barbs over the last few weeks and brought all this animosity to the table. After a few words, they shook hands full of irony. Not satisfied, Sanchez continued directing insults at his opponent even as he descended the stairs.
