PRIDE and UFC veteran Phil Baroni signs contract with Bellator

The 37-year-old fighter is expected to make his debut with the organization on May 2, in Atlantic City

Phil Baroni, long-time MMA veteran, has a new home. The 37-year-old American signed a contract with Bellator and is expected to make his debut on May 2, at an event to be held in the city of Atlantic City, in the North American state of New Jersey.

With this, Baroni adds another prominent organization to his rich CV. In his 14-year career, the fighter has performed in events such as UFC, PRIDE, Strikeforce and EliteXC. His record, however, is negative, with 15 wins and 17 losses – the last of which was against Nobutatsu Suzuki at ONE FC, in the Philippines.

Baroni's opponent in his Bellator debut will be, according to the “MMA Fighting” website, his compatriot Jesus Martinez, who has a record of eight wins and five losses. The May 2 event will feature the return of former featherweight champion Joe Warren.
