Young Myles Jury, just 25 years old, is considered by many to be one of Ultimate's greatest promises in the lightweight category. However, despite the expectations generated around his quality, Jury does not present a standard speech for new generation athletes. About to face the TUF 1 champion Diego Sanchez this Saturday (15), at UFC 171, the undefeated North American didn't show that much respect for his rival, who is part of the organization's “old guard”.
“I look at someone like Diego Sanchez, he's more of a street fighter. I look at myself and I see a professional fighter. I do my training, I've been in this sport for some time and I've learned a series of weapons. If I wanted to go out there and stand in front of someone until one of us fell, I wouldn't go to all this work to perfect my technique. All I had to do was stand in front of a bag of sand every day and train”, said Jury.
The Alliance MMA athlete also commented on Sanchez's style, famous for being very aggressive and attacking his opponents in his fights. In Myles' opinion, despite being attractive to the public, his rival's stance could cost him dearly. “I call it playing the lottery. Guys who drop their bombs without much discretion can win, but they also have a great chance of losing”, he analyzed.
This Saturday (15), in Dallas, Myles Jury plays against Diego Sanchez his first fight on an Ultimate main card. The duel is the third-to-last fight of UFC 171. The main fight of the night is face-to-face John hendricks e Robbie Lawler for the vacant welterweight belt. In the co-main event, the former interim champion of the 77 kg division Carlos Condit face Tyron woodley.
