One of the main highlights of the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg) in recent years, Derrick Lewis tries to end the delicate moment he is experiencing in his career. An Ultimate athlete since 2014, Lewis is considered one of the most exciting and entertaining fighters in the entire organization. With incredible knockout power in his hands, the 'Black Beast' doesn't usually take his fights to the judges' decision. Of his 17 victories in the company chaired by Dana White, 13 of them were by knockout. Even Derrick's setbacks tend to happen before the last bell rings. Of his eight defeats in the Octagon, seven were by knockout and one by submission.
Lewis' peak in the organization took place in 2018. The American had three consecutive victories over Marcin tybura, Francis Ngannou e Alexander Volkov, which propelled him to fight for the heavyweight belt. In front of the then champion Daniel Cormier, Derrick proved to be easy prey and was submitted in the second round.
