On March 15, at UFC 171, John hendricks will try to win the welterweight title for the second time, facing Robbie Lawler for the category's vacant belt. However, the North American analyzed the division's scenario for the future and gave his opinion on who should be next in line to compete for the title.

According to Hendricks, the person deserving of the chance is, in theory, the winner of the fight between Carlos Condit e Tyron woodley, which will take place at the same UFC 171. If that happens, it would frustrate the ambitions of Nick Diaz, which, despite defeat to Condit and Georges St Pierre, stated that he only intends to return to the UFC if it is a valid fight for the belt.

“If I win this fight, it will be between Condit or Woodley. Carlos is always a tough opponent, the same can be said about Woodley. And they will fight on the same night. But a fight is a fight, you never know what will happen”, said Hendricks, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Junkie”. “I actually think Diaz needs to fight a few more times. He suffered two defeats in his last two fights, didn't he? But, if the UFC told me to face him, I wouldn’t say no,” he concluded.

In addition to Hendricks x Lawler and Condit x Woodley, UFC 171 will feature another fight involving contenders for the welterweight title, with Jake Shields facing up Hector Lombard.
