Dana White rules out rematch between Hughes and Serra: 'It doesn't need to happen'

The manager also mocked the physical form of former fighters today

The anxiety over a possible rematch between former welterweight champions Matt Serra and Matt hugs. Less than 24 hours after the rivals' conversation for Twitter, suggesting that they would be interested in the duel and, on Hughes' part, conditioning its holding to Ultimate's interest in promoting the fight, UFC president Dana White ruled out promoting the fight.

“I get it, they don't like each other. They're both great competitors, great champions. Matt hugs He's a guy who helped us build the UFC, just like Matt Serra. Serra has always been a great guy for us. But this (the rematch between them) doesn’t need to happen”, said White in conversation with the press after the UFC 170 press conference, this Thursday (20). The leader ended the matter with a joke. “In what category would they fight? Super heavyweight?” he said.

At 40, Matt hugs has a record of 45 wins and nine losses. Hughes' last fight as a professional was in September 2011, when he was defeated by Josh koscheck at UFC 135. Matt Serra, 39, has a record of eleven wins and seven losses. In his last fight, held in September 2010, the jiu-jitsu black belt was defeated by Chris Lytle, at UFC 119. In 2009, the two faced each other in the co-main fight of UFC 98. The fight was won by Matt hugs, by unanimous decision of the judges, with a triple 29-28.
