The American Tim Kennedy would be responsible for receiving Lyoto Machida in the middleweight division at the end of last year. However, with the injury to Michael Bisping, Lyoto ended up facing Mark Muñoz in his debut and Tim faced Rafael Sapo. This weekend, in a joking tone, Kennedy used the Twitter to celebrate the fact of not having faced Machida, as a way of praising the Brazilian's performance against Gegard Mousasi at UFC Jaraguá.

“I'm happy I didn't fight (Lyoto) Machida. I don't know if I could handle commenters talking about him blowing up at me over and over again," Kennedy wrote on the microblogging network. The North American has a sense of humor on social media that is already recognized in the MMA world, especially after the series of comical messages he published asking for a new opponent in UFC Fight for The Troops 3, which culminated in the announcement of Rafael Sapo as your opponent.

In addition to the fight itself, Kennedy also displayed his good humor in conversation with Rener Gracie, Machida's jiu-jitsu coach. “For those wondering, Lyoto was looking for ‘triple threat attacks’ by counter-attacking from the weak side, but time was short and Mousasi defended well,” wrote Rener. Quickly, Kennedy mocked the message. “I was actually about to ask if Lyoto was looking for a ‘triple threat attack’, but as I didn’t know what that meant… So, I didn’t ask,” he published. Gracie took the comment in stride and was political in her response. “Tim Kennedy, I would be honored to share it with you. Come to the Gracie Academy or visit our website”, he countered.

At 34 years old, Tim Kennedy has a record of 17 wins and four losses. The former challenger to the now-defunct Strikeforce belt won the two fights he had as a UFC athlete, against Brazilians Roger gracie e Rafael Sapo, and currently occupies ninth place in the official middleweight rankings. In his next UFC match, on April 14, in Quebec (Canada), Kennedy will face the British Michael Bisping in the main event of UFC Fight Night 41.
