Former member of the group Polegar Rafael Ilha, who is also a former patient of psychiatrist Sabino Ferreira de Farias Neto, harshly criticized the clinic and the methods used by the psychiatrist in treating drug addicts, as in the Ryan Gracie case. Rafael, in an interview with reporter Bárbara de Souza from Diário de S. Paulo, stated: “I spent ten months smoking crack inside his clinic. Sabino is a mercenary and crazy.” Regarding the clinic that belongs to the doctor and where he stayed for ten months between 1999 and 2000, Ilha said that the clinic was a “luxury spa”. Regarding Ryan's case, Rafael harshly criticized the care Gracie received, “You can't fill the guy with medicine and turn your back. They should have taken him to the emergency room.” Still in the interview, Sabino classified Ilha's accusations as “absurd”, but said that it was not impossible for drugs to enter his clinic.
