Belfort also criticized the award selection method, which is chosen through open voting on the internet. “The awards show in Las Vegas was really cool. But these are fan votes and may not be concrete. The results are sometimes not fair. Duane (Ludwig, from the Team Alpha Male academy) is a good coach, but, for God's sake, Dedé (Pederneiras, from Nova União), because of what he did this year, didn't win best coach? There’s marmalade in that thing, something wrong,” he concluded.
The “World MMA Awards” marked just the first chapter of the battle between Vitor belfort e Chris Weidman, this time with victory for the North American. On May 24, in Las Vegas, Belfort and Weidman will face each other for the middleweight belt. The confrontation is the main fight of UFC 173. In the co-main fight of the event, Wanderlei Silva e Chael Sonnen, technicians from The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3, finally face each other in the octagon, after months of provocations and one of the most tense editions in the history of Ultimate's official reality show.
