The Brazilian José Aldo entered the octagon to defend the featherweight belt for the sixth opportunity. This time, the challenger was Ricardo Lamas, who had a tough fight against the Brazilian athlete. The fight was the second most important of UFC 169, an event held in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday, in Newark, United States.

Considered a strong favorite in the dispute, Aldo hoped to achieve another victory to dream of also winning the lightweight belt. But Ricardo Lamas showed a lot of desire and toughened up the duel for Manauara.
