Before moving up to heavyweight, Jon Jones wants to beat Glover, Gustafsson and Cormier

The light heavyweight champion also commented on a hypothetical superfight against Chris Weidman

Anyone who thinks that the days of Jon Jones The light heavyweights are numbered and the champion already has his bags ready for the heavyweights. During a question and answer session in Newark (USA), this Friday (31), Jones stated that he still has three opponents in mind at light heavyweight, before finally moving to the 120 kg category.

“I think I still have a lot of work to do in the light heavyweight division. My goals are to win Glover Teixeira, beat Gustafsson in our rematch and then beat DC (Daniel Cormier). If this really plays out, it's a frantic schedule, these guys are on the hunt for me. I have a lot of work to do to stay where I am, for sure, but it’s welcome,” Jones said.

Jon “Bones” Jones, as he is known, also revealed his expectations for the change of category. According to the champion, the ideal scenario for the change would be to arrive in the new division with a title fight. “If I move up to heavyweight, I hope to get a title shot soon against the best fighter. It's hard to say what would happen. I would love to entertain the heavyweight division with the fans, but I don’t know if I would fight for the title right away, I don’t know how it works”, he analyzed.

Finally, Jones commented on the chance of having a superfight against Chris Weidman in the future. The proposition was made in a perfect scenario: UFC 200, in Madison Square Garden, in New York – home state of both Jon Jones how much of the tormentor of Anderson Silva and which still prohibits MMA. “I think it would be phenomenal, it would be incredible. I don't want to say anything about Weidman, because everything I say ends up being taken out of context. I think he’s a great guy, but I’m very confident in myself,” he concluded.
