For many MMA fans, the marriage of the fight between Adriano Martins and Donald Cerrone, which will take place at UFC on Fox 10, this Saturday (25), may have seemed strange. After all, it's not often that a fighter who has just arrived in the UFC is already scheduled to face a member of the top ten in his weight group according to the organization's official rankings.

However, Martins sees the occasion as a chance to show his potential. After overcoming Daron Cruickshank via submission in his UFC debut in November 2013, he hopes to overcome Cerrone (eighth in the rankings) to gain international prominence.

“It’s a great opportunity for me in the UFC. I want to be one of the best, so this is a good shortcut to the top 10. I will work hard to win this fight. I believe I would deserve a place in the top ten after this fight, and I worked my whole life for that”, said the Brazilian, in an interview with the North American website MMA Fighting.

“I have a history in MMA in Brazil, but it's not normal to arrive at the UFC and fight someone in the top 10, who was close to fighting for the title a year ago. I'm happy with this opportunity and I'm sure we'll have a great fight”, added the fighter, who has a record of 25 wins and six losses in MMA.
