For Daniel Cormier, current Ultimate commentator, winning the middleweight belt (up to 83,9kg) from Alex Poatán has a big 'responsible': Glover Teixeira. 'DC' praised the sense of urgency of the former light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) during the break for the fifth round and praised the work done by the Minas Gerais native from Sobrália at his gym in Connecticut (USA).

“I think the key was Glover Teixeira and his team letting Alex Pereira know, very sternly: 'If you want to be the champion, you have five minutes. You have to put it all out there.' And that's exactly what he did. He went out there and threw caution to the wind. Generally, we don't see guys pressuring Adesanya that much, because the danger of him countering is so great that they don't want to risk it. Well, tonight, Pereira knew that if he didn't take the risk, he would lose the fight, and he did his job in the fifth round,” said Cormier.
The former UFC champion praised the work done by Glover at his gym in the United States and gave full credit to the former owner of the light heavyweight belt.
“Now Alex Pereira is the middleweight champion with just four fights in the UFC. Glover Teixeira fight next month for the belt and that little gym in Connecticut could have two UFC champions. That's what it tells you, it's not about the big gym as much as it used to be. It's about putting yourself in a situation where you can be successful, and that's exactly what Glover and they are doing right now.”
Last Saturday (12), Alex Poatán won the UFC middleweight belt by knocking out the then champion Israel adesanya in the fifth round. The pupil of Glover Teixeira he reached the peak of his career with just four fights in the biggest MMA organization in the world.
