The Kimura Nova União team received a boost in preparation for the pair José Aldo e Renan Barao aiming for UFC 169. Former boxer Acelino “Popó” Freitas has participated in boxing training with Aldo and Barão, who are defending their belts at the event on February 1st.

Popó himself recorded the first day of training with his new teammates on his profile on Instagram. “First day of training with the UFC champions José Aldo e Renan Barao”, wrote the former boxer on the social network. In the published photo, Popó appears alongside the fighters and Dedé Pederneiras, leader of Nova União.

On February 1st, in Newark (USA), Renan Barao defends the bantamweight category belt for the first time against the North American Urijah faber. Former interim champion, Barão would face Dominick Cruz for title unification, but the opponent, who has been out of action for more than two years, was injured again and gave up his status as champion. In the co-main fight of the event, José Aldo puts the featherweight belt on the line once again against North American challenger Ricardo Lamas.
