Tito Ortiz, former UFC light heavyweight champion, was arrested in the early hours of Monday (6) after a car accident in Los Angeles, in the United States, in which he was allegedly driving drunk.

At 4 am, the “Bad Boy of Huntington Beach” crashed his Posche Panamera into a concrete wall on Interstate 405, which connects the north to the south of the state of California. The accident did not involve other vehicles.

Breathalyzer tests carried out at the scene indicated that the fighter had an amount of alcohol in his system 50% above the permitted amount. A few hours earlier, Ortiz attended a party at the Playboy mansion, also in Los Angeles.

However, despite witnesses stating that the car was “moderately damaged”, both Ortiz and the two passengers in the vehicle (whose identities were not revealed) emerged unharmed from the accident. After being detained and paying bail, Ortiz was released from the police station shortly after 8 am local time.

Tito Ortiz, 38 years old, is one of the biggest names in UFC history. He remained light heavyweight champion after five defenses, a record that was only broken in the category in 2013, by Jon Jones, which reached six after the fight with Alexander Gustafson.

Ortiz's last fight in MMA was in July 2012, at UFC 148, when he was defeated by Forrest griffin in the judges' decision. In his last nine appearances, he has accumulated one win, one draw and seven defeats. In October, he was scheduled to face another former UFC champion, Quinton.”Rampage” Jackson, in Bellator, but had to withdraw from the fight due to a neck injury.
