The year 2014 did not start well for Brazilian athletes in Ultimate. At UFC Fight Night 34, the first event of the season, held this Saturday morning (Brasília time), in Singapore, Luiz Besouro he had a good start to the fight against Kiichi Kunimoto, but ended up being disqualified due to the Japanese's illegal strikes. Previously, Leandro Brodinho had been submitted by Russel Doane on the preliminary card.
In the main fight of the night, the Belgian Tarec saffiedine and South Korean Hyun Gyu Lim had a great fight, full of good moments and alternation in control. At the end of 25 minutes of an intense battle, Saffiedine won the unanimous decision of the judges.
Besouro loses on debut
The long-awaited debut of Luiz Besouro in the UFC it didn't go the way the Rio athlete's fans expected. After his success on TUF Brasil 2, where he was forced to leave the reality show due to an injury during the program, he faced Kiichi Kunimoto.
At the beginning of the dispute, the Brazilian took the initiative in the exchange and even tried to throw a beautiful round kick, which went blank. In turn, Kunimoto tried grappling and closed the distance in search of the clinch.
Pinned against the bars, Besouro avoided the fall and landed some elbows from top to bottom. However, the blows hit the Japanese man in the back of the head and he fell into the octagon. The referee interrupted the dispute and called the doctors to assess the Japanese athlete's condition. Unable to continue, the referee ended the fight.
