The last tempos, Chael Sonnen has been one of the main critics of athletes who give up their fights. The loudmouth's main target in his provocations is Brazilians Rogério Minotouro, which recently had to abandon its struggles against Mauritius Shogun e Alexander Gustafson due to a back problem. Sonnen, however, proved that he does not support his position only in speech, when he revealed, against his will, that he underwent colon surgery before the fight against Rashad evans, at UFC 167.

“I confess that I'm surprised that you have this information, but I don't make excuses for not fighting. When I sign a contract to fight, I'm agreeing to fight a guy on a certain day and in a certain place. It's my job to be well when I go there, and if I'm not, that means I can't give up the fight”, when asked about the surgical intervention, in which part of his intestine was removed, by interviewer Michael Landsberg, from the Canadian program “Off the Record”.

The tension between Sonnen and the athletes who, according to him, give up on their fights has been going on for a long time. Just before facing Mauritius Shogun at UFC Fight Night 26, in August, the loudmouth directed his traditional jabs at Brazilians Vitor belfort e Rogério Minotouro. “What I know is when Minotouro or Vitor (Belfort) sign a contract, I go to the gym to train. Because I know that an opportunity will appear”, said the American at a press conference, making even President Dana White laugh.
