Former UFC light heavyweight (up to 93kg) title challenger, Chael Sonnen understands well the dangers of sharing the octagon with Jon Jones. Victim of the legend in 2013, the North American, however, warned his compatriot about 'Bones' long-awaited debut in the 120,2kg division. For the commentator, his compatriot should be worried about the former champion Stipe Miocic, in addition to the current owner of the title, Francis Ngannou.
"Jon Jones will do a lot of damage when they are standing. It's dynamic. You're going to kick your legs. However, there is a question about how Jones will cope against someone bigger and who has the ability to knock him out. If he is standing and trading blows with Stipe and is unable to take him down, as happened with Daniel Cormier, Stipe may have an opportunity”, said Sonnen, on the program 'Henry Cejudo Breakdown'.

For Sonnen, Jon's experience in the heavyweight division will bring challenges never before faced by the MMA legend. Therefore, a possible setback may not be a surprise, in the view of the 'American Gangster'.
“I think Jones will take hits he’s not used to. It will be something new. We're still talking about Jon Jones, but in a dangerous scenario. Only Jon can give us the answer”, he concluded.
Considered by many to be the best MMA fighter of all time, Jones has not stepped into the octagon since February 2020, when he crashed Dominick reyes and defended the title in the under-93kg category. Out of action for more than two years, the athlete is preparing for his heavyweight debut.
