FJJD-Rio prepares first stage of the Circuit

There is just over a month left until the first stage of the FJJD-Rio Rio 2009 Circuit, which will begin on March 21st, and the entity has already begun the process of registering and affiliating teams and athletes. One of the new features for this year is cooperation with social projects that teach Jiu-Jitsu.

“We are visiting the projects and offering facilities so that the most needy students can participate in the competitions. Those responsible for the projects they have should contact the Federation. We don’t want to leave anyone out”, said president Rogério Gavazza.

Furthermore, the most traditional teams in Rio de Janeiro are already starting to mobilize to compete for the ranking and prizes already proposed by FJJD-Rio. After GFTeam and Nova União guaranteed their presence, one of the newest forces of gentle art in Rio de Janeiro, Soul Fighters wants to do well.

“Since last year we have been competing hard and have already achieved good results. This year we are more organized, with proper training and a closed team. We are excited and we are going to come in strong, to compete for the first places”, commented Bruno Mendes, known as Tanque, one of the leaders of the team that includes talents such as Rafael Formiga, Augusto Mendes “Tanquinho” and Leandro Escobar “Tatu”.

Last year one of the members of Soul Fighters, Rafael Formiga, almost got a ticket to the USA. This year the team wants to keep the prize, which will take the best black belt of the year to the IBJJF World Championship, in California.

PUBLICITY:

“I find this award very interesting. Last year Formiga lost the pass in the last stage and we are bitten by that. We will come to collect the awards, whether with Formiga or any other black belt or athlete on the team. We will put the best from white to black belt”, he said.
