Michael Chandler believes in another chance at the title if he beats Dustin Poirier at UFC 281

'Iron' talks about his goal of becoming champion and plans to face the winner of Charles do Bronx and Islam Makhachev in 2023

Michael chandler is motivated about his future in Ultimate. Standing out in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg), the North American is preparing to face his compatriot Dustin poirier No. UFC 281 on November 12th and, now, he is already planning a new chance for the category belt. He still hopes to face the winner of Charles of the Bronx e Islam makhachev in 2023.

“I still have the goal of becoming world champion. I think, beating Dustin (Poirier) on November 12th, I'm next in line. I fight Islam (Makhachev) or (Charles) Oliveira in the first quarter or middle of next year. Whenever that fight materializes, I'll be your world champion by the middle of next year,” Chandler said in an interview with 'MMA Hour'.

Former Bellator lightweight champion and former UFC belt challenger, Chandler arrived in Ultimate in January 2021 and managed to challenge for the straight title with just one knockout over Dan Hooker, in the first round. Knocked out by Do Bronx in May of the same year, 'Iron' was also defeated by Justin gaethje in his next duel.

The recovery came with the brutal knockout over Tony Ferguson No. UFC 274. The veteran has a record of 23 triumphs and seven setbacks in the sport. Additionally, he also signed a new multi-fight contract with the organization.
