Despite Werdum's initial refusal, Dana White places Brazilian against winner of Barnett and Browne

UFC President doesn't want the Brazilian waiting for champion Cain Velasquez for too long

Fabricio Werdumthe return of Fabricio Werdum to the octagon was the UFC's most controversial topic in recent days. The Brazilian, who was scheduled to challenge Cain Velazquez for the heavyweight belt, he will have to wait a little longer for his chance at the title due to surgery that the champion underwent. The organization even offered the athlete from Rio Grande do Sul the winner of Josh Barnett and Travis Browne so that he wouldn't be inactive for too long. Werdum even refused the fight, but the franchise president, Dana White, assured that the duel will happen.

In an interview with the FOX Sports channel in the United States, White said that he does not agree with Fabrício's long period away from fighting and even called the possibility of him waiting for Velasquez's recovery 'ridiculous'.

“I met with (Fabricio) Werdum yesterday and he will fight the winner of Travis Browne and Josh Barnett. He wait (for Cain Velazquez) is ridiculous”, said the agent.

“I'm not interested in seeing Werdum stand still, he's going to fight. Because there comes a point where it's been so long since he fought that no one cares. You start to disappear and no one cares. That’s why we’re going to push him to fight,” he added to the top hat.

The duel between Josh Barnett and Travis Browne, Fabrício's possible opponents, is scheduled for UFC 168, an event that takes place on December 28, in Las Vegas.
