the veteran Josh thomson would be the next challenger for the Ultimate lightweight belt, but his dream of winning the title of the main MMA organization on the planet was postponed due to an injury to the champion Anthony Pettis. Faced with the cancellation of the title fight, the North American accepted a fight against the former champion Ben henderson in January. The situation, however, does not seem to be viewed favorably by Thomson, who provoked Pettis by stating that he already knew that “Showtime” would give up on the duel.

“I was a little upset, but, to be honest, as soon as the fight was given to me and we accepted, we already knew what was going to happen. For some reason I held back. I kind of knew he would give up the fight. He had just given up fighting Aldo and miraculously got well enough to fight Benson (Henderson) at home. Now he gives up again. I can understand, you just won the title and you want some time, but it happens”, said Thomson, in an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website.

Without the duel against Anthony Pettis, Josh thomson will have to overcome dissatisfaction with the champion and focus on the duel against Ben henderson. Thomson and Bendo face each other in the main fight of UFC on FOX 10, an event announced for January 25, 2014, in Chicago (USA). Pettis, in turn, continues to recover from the knee injury and plans to return to fight, to defend the lightweight belt for the first time, only in the middle of next year.
