O Jungle Fight There's a new featherweight champion. In the 62nd edition of the event, held last night (07), in São Paulo, Alexandre Capião beat the previous title holder Rafael Gogó in the unanimous decision of the judges.
Even as a challenger, Captain started taking the initiative. Although Gogó had great speed in his striking, it was Alexandre who connected the best blows. Captain still showed better control in the ground fight to emerge victorious with a triple 29×28 on the judges' scorecards.
With the title, the captain is already dreaming of a place in the Utimate. “I had my tenth fight in Jungle Fight, and I hope it was the last. Now I want the UFC. I want to thank my family, my team and my friends,” she said.
Countryman wins and recovers
In the second most important fight of the night, Edson Conterrâneo managed to overcome his fatigue in the second half of the fight and beat Douglas Simões with a unanimous decision from the judges.
Coming off a defeat in his last appearance, Conterrâneo didn't want to take any chances in his rival's stand-up game. He closed the distance and took down Simões. Edson kept his rival on his back and opened up an advantage.
History repeated itself in the following rounds. Even though he appeared very tired, Conterraneo managed to control Douglas' dangers to win the judges' decision.
