Roy Jones Jr. schedules fight as a 'warm-up' for Anderson Silva: 'I'm here for him'

Boxer justified fight in December as preparation for likely fight against Spider

Anderson Silva He has never hidden the fact that he has boxer Roy Jones Jr. as one of his greatest idols and that he dreams of facing him in a boxing match one day. Previously, Jones Jr. had already posted a Spider victory over Chris Weidman in the December rematch as a condition for the fight to take place. This Wednesday (04), however, the boxer showed that he is already preparing for the confrontation, by revealing that he accepted another boxing fight, against Zine Eddine Benmakhlouf, after canceling his commitment with Bobby Gunn.

“I want to be ready to Anderson Silva, if he beats Weidman. Silva made it clear that if he wins, he wants to face me next. I'm here for him. This fight (against Benmakhlouf) intrigues a lot of people. I can't fight it Anderson Silva Coming from a long break. So it is necessary to have a fight first. If it weren't for Anderson Silva challenging myself, I wouldn’t do this fight”, said Jones Jr. in an interview with the North American channel “ESPN”.
